•    I do appreciate your interest in GBG liquid vitamins.  I had RNY surgery in May, 2006, and found GBG to be a very good liquid vitamin, that was absorbed easily and offered a very good value at $19.95 per month. As an ethical person, I’d like to make you aware of some things.  I am ceasing to be a GBG distributor in January, 2009, for the following reasons:
• GBG increased the cost of their vitamins by $10 a month on August 1, 2009, yet made major decreases in it's nutritional value at the same time.  More money, less vitamins at the same time?  Not good.
• CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?  Another price increase the first week in July, 2010. New price is $39.97
• GBG has drastically changed its formula over the past year, decreasing the nutrients.
• I initially joined the GBG company in September, 2007, as this vitamin seemed to be the very best liquid I could find for bariatric patients, or for the general public.
• GBG can only be ordered by auto-shipment, and many clients are reluctant to have a charge automatically placed on their credit or debit card every month.
• The flavor of GBG has been changed 3 times since May, 2007. The original flavor was very good, then a formula change resulted in a green colored vitamin that tasted horrible. A newer flavor since then is more tolerable.
• GBG decided to change from calcium citrate (best form) to the lesser expensive coral calcium.  Calcium citrate is the BEST form of calcium for bariatric patients due to better absorption.
• GBG has decreased the trace mineral levels from 100mg to 5mg per serving.
• Zinc, Selenium, Copper, Manganese, Chromium, and Potassium have been removed from their formula.
• Decreased  mg levels in their energy blend.
• Decreased number of ingredients in the Fruit & Vegetable blend.
• Sorbitol is used in their formula. This is a sugar alcohol not tolerated by some people, especially those who have had weight loss surgeries.
• GBG used to claim an ORAC score (rating system for antioxidants) of 2500. They make no claims to the level of antibiotics in their current literature.
• GBG has delayed shipments at least twice, resulting in delivery delays of 10 to 21 days, prompting complaints from my clients.
• Due to GBG’s changing it’s commission package, my income from these vitamins has dropped from about $185 to under $50 per month, with about the same number of clients.

   For optimum savings, order multiple bottles of NHR to save on shipment costs. One bottle costs $10 for shipping and handling, and orders of 2 or more bottles are a flat rate of $15 shipping and handling. This means that your net cost is as little as $32 per bottle if 5 bottles are ordered at one time.  5 bottles at $29 per bottle + $15 shipping = $160. Divide by the 5 bottles purchased = $32 per bottle. This is a savings of about $7 per bottle compared to purchasing one bottle at a time. I have many clients who purchase this way, and when they open the 5th bottle, they just place another order of 5 bottles. Since wt loss surgery means you'll need daily vitamins forever, saving $7 a month x 12 months/year = saving $84 a year for the rest of your life.  In October, 2009, I personally ordered 20 bottles of the EPIC ULTRA for my support group meetings. The total shipping and handling cost was only $15 for this order. This brought my net cost per bottle down to $20.70 .

  Epic Ultra had a price increase on 3/1/10.  A price increase had been contemplated for several months. But Greenwood Health Systems decided to keep Epic Ultra at the old price, as it was considered a "loss leader", as people would purchase the EPIC ULTRA, and note their additional products on their web site. But due to 2 things--increased costs of ingredients and production costs AND their commitment to NOT DEGRADE the nutritional value of the vitamins (as GBG vitamins had done in 2009), they had no choice but to increase the cost per bottle. But please remember, EPIC ULTRA offers much higher vitamin levels and  many additional health benefits (high ORAC score, etc.) than competitive products, yet it is priced over $10 less than almost all of their competitors. GBG is the closest in price, but it is also far inferior in it's supplemental values.

  Here is the explanation I received from the makers of Epic Ultra:

  "While most of the increases were minor, the price of the EPIC ULTRA was raised from $19.95 to $29.00 and some distributors have been asking why such a large increase was necessary. The answer to that question lies with the history of EPIC ULTRA.  EU was not originally a Greenwood product, it was one of the products we inherited when we took over NHR Products. For the past year we have treated EU as a "loss-leader" product and if you do not know what that term means, here is the explanation.  A loss-leader is a product that every time you sell it, you lose money on the sale. Basically, companies use loss-leader products to attract new clients in the hope that those new clients will also purchase other, more profitable products, thus offsetting the loss made on each loss-leader product sale.
  Ever since we introduced EU into our product range, we have closely monitored the purchasing patterns of those distributors and retail customers who were ordering it. This monitoring showed us that as over 95 percent of those individuals never ever purchased any other products, all we were doing was losing money each time a bottle was ordered."

  Price comparison may be somewhat misleading with other vitamins. EPIC ULTRA has higher values of almost all vitamins than other competing brands, yet is one of the lowest price. Please also consider the following:

• EPIC ULTRA offers 32 daily servings for the $29. It can be purchased as a retail product as opposed to other brands that only offer a "discount price" if you order by the "auto-ship" method, where the product is shipped to you every month. Cost of using EPIC ULTRA is slightly less than $1 per day. EPIC ULTRA may also be ordered in shipments of 2 or more bottles, which greatly decreases the net price. Retail ordering available--you don't have to sign up for automatic shipment of product every month.  The net price per month is reduced by $7 if you order 5 bottles in one shipment. This is due to the fact that 2 or more bottles ships for a flat rate of $15. I personally had 20 bottles shipped to my home several months ago, and the total cost of shipment was only $15.  Excellent in RDA levels of all vitamins.

• GBG vitamins, $39.97 per bottle  (as if 7-10). 1 oz daily. Cost is $1.33 per day. Very low minerals, low fruit & veggie blend = far less antioxidants.

• VIBE liquid vitamins are available for $59.95 for 32 servings, with less vitamins per daily serving. It is normally only sold on auto-shipment.  Cost is just under $2 per day.

• Passion4Life liquid vitamins cost $42.95 per 30 ounce bottle. Recommended dosage is 1-3 oz daily. So the $42.95 bottle will likely not last you one month.  At the minimum dosage (lowest level of vitamins), cost is $1.43 per day.

• VEMMA is $60 per month for two 32 ounce bottles. Recommended dosage is 2 oz daily. Cost is $2 per day.

• MonaVie "liquid nutrition" costs $65 for two 25 ounce bottles. Daily dosage is 1-3 oz per day.  At 2 oz per day dosage, the cost is $2.60 per day, and the two bottles will NOT last more than 25 days.

• Zrii "liquid nutrition" is priced at $39.95 per 25 oz bottle. Recommended dosage is 1-3 oz per day. At 2 oz per daily dosage, cost is $3.20 per day for ONLY 13 days per bottle. So you would need 2.5 bottles to last one month, at a cost of $98.13.  Low in vitamin values.

• Xango "liquid nutrition" costs $31.25 per bottle, when purchased in 4 bottle cases. These are 25 oz bottles. Recommended dose is 1-2 oz daily. Very few vitamins in here, "other healthy stuff" primarily. When taken at minimum levels of 1 oz daily, cost is $1.25 daily--yet one bottle only last 25 days. So you would need 1.2 bottles to last 30 days, at a cost of $37.50.  Low in vitamin values.
